The 2024 Paris Olympics Football Tournament gets underway this week. Both the men’s and women’s qualifying teams will begin their journey that will ultimately see one team land the gold medal and with it the title of Olympic Champions.
In this article, we will provide a little history of the men’s and women’s Olympic Football Tournaments over the years and a full preview of the tournaments to be held in Paris in 2024.
Finally, we will round off with a look at some of the teams we’d consider backing to win the tournament.
Any odds in the sections of this article where we have included them were taken from bet365 Sport and were correct when the article was written. However, the prices shown may have changed as the tournament has progressed.
There’s a lot to get through across both tournaments, so let’s get started with an aspect of the Olympic Football Tournament that is the same for both male and female teams.

Our 2024 Paris Olympic Men’s Football Tournament Gold Medal Tip
The men’s tournament is more lop-sided than the women’s event and as such, I think it is easier to narrow it down. Spain, Argentina and France will be the teams to beat in the tournament and with home advantage behind them, it would be foolish to back against France (3.25).
2024 Paris Olympics – Women’s Football Tournament
Draw and Fixtures
A total of 12 teams qualified for the Olympic Women’s Football Tournament in Paris. However, the tournament will operate under very similar organisation to the men’s event.
The key difference will be that not only will the top two in each of the three groups qualify for the quarterfinals, but the two third-place teams in the group stage with the best record will also qualify for the quarterfinal stage.
From then on it is the same format as the men’s event with a straight knockout to decide who earns the gold, silver and bronze medals.

28th July – Australia v Zambia, Germany v United States
31st July – Australia v United States, Germany v Zambia
- Group C – Spain, Japan, Nigeria, Brazil

Our 2024 Paris Olympic Women’s Football Tournament Gold Medal Tip
The United States may be the favourites to win the gold medal here, but Spain have been the best team in the world in women’s football for a couple of years now and there is nothing to suggest that they will not continue that run of great form here. Take Spain at 3.00 for the win.
