10,112 players started the 2024 WSOP Main Event. Now just nine remain in with a chance of becoming the next equivalent of Poker World Champion.
Other events may lay claim to being the biggest in the world, but for the purist, the WSOP Main Event is the one to win every year.
It is Poker’s equivalent of the World Cup in football, Super Bowl in American Football or the NBA Finals in basketball.
And it is equally as difficult to win, if not more difficult. Ask Daniel Weinman!
As anybody who has loaded up a game at bet365 Poker and tried their luck in the tournaments available on the site, or a cash game, winning in poker is never guaranteed. In fact, far from it. The only guarantee is that you will lose.
The key seems to be losing less often, and at the key moments, than your peers!
With 10,103 players now eliminated, just nine remain at the 2024 WSOP Main Event.
Let’s take a closer look at the nine players left in the tournament.

The Las Vegas native is 14th on the all time Nevada money list and 109th on the all-time United States money list. His last tournament win however came back in December 2022, at the PGT Aria High Roller Series. This came just a few weeks after he landed his sole WSOP bracelet win in the WSOP High Roller ONLINE event in October 2022. Is a 2024 WSOP Main Event the next bracelet on his list?

The highest-earning poker player from New Mexico in history and 229th on the USA all time money list, Joe Serock is certainly one of the more familiar faces at the final table. He too owns a WSOP bracelet already, from a Pot-Limit Omaha online event back in June 2023. His last win was at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Signatur Poker Series $3,500 No Limit Hold’em Signature event in September 2023. He has already cashed in three WSOP events and six WSOP Online events in the series already.

Based in Schaumburg, Illinois, of Jordan Griff can win this title, then it will be a win as big a surprise as Chris Moneymaker’s in 2003. Prior to this tournament, Griff had won a total of $47,192 since 2019, but he has cashed out once already in the 2004 WSOP series but this will be by far his biggest win and it will undoubtedly be a life-changing one regardless of where he finishes in the final nine of the 2024 WSOP Main Event.
Seat 7 – Jonathan Tamayo (United States) – 26,700,000
WSOP Bracelets Won – 0

He’s cashed at five other tournaments part of the World Series of Poker, including the Millionaire Maker and the PokerNews Deepstack Championship. His best cash came in the 2009 WSOP Main Event, when he finished a creditable 21st. He is sure to improve on that position and prize this time around in the 2024 WSOP Main Event!
Seat 8 – Andres Gonzalez (Spain) – 18,300,000
WSOP Bracelets Won – 0
Biggest Cashout – $201,518
Total Live Earnings – $294,249
All Time Money List Ranking – 10,642nd
Andres may be short-stacked at the final table, but having finished 3rd in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Freezeout Event 29 at this WSOP event, he is already set to take home over $201,000 from that finish alone. Add to that at least a million dollars here, possibly considerably more, and it adds up to what is comfortably his best ever WSOP performance.
Seat 9 – Jason Sagle (Canada) – 67,300,000
WSOP Bracelets Won – 0
Biggest Cashout – $600,455
Total Live Earnings – $1,685,165

Jason Sagel ranks 69th on the all-time money list for Canadian players with just over $1.6m in live earnings in his career. The Niagara Falls native has been busy in Las Vegas this summer, cashing at seven WSOP events and three Wynn Summer Classic events between the end of May and early July. However, those winnings will be dwarfed by his winnings from this 2024 WSOP Main Event.
Who Stands The Best Chance Of Winning The 2024 WSOP Main Event?

There are a couple of factors to think about when considering who is most likely to win the 2024 WSOP Main Event. Two of which you can analyse and judge, the other totally out of anybody’s control.
They are: –
- Chip Ranking
- Experience
- Luck
So let’s rank the players in each of these categories:
Chip Ranking

- Jordan Griff – 143,700,000
- Brian Kim – 94,600,000
- Niklas Astedt – 94,200,000
- Joe Serock – 83,600,000
- Jason Sagle – 67,300,000
- Boris Angelov – 52,900,000
- Jonathan Tamayo – 26,700,000
- Malo Latinois – 25,500,000
- Andres Gonzalez – 18,300,000
Griff leads the 2024 WSOP Main Event final table with almost 50,000,000 more chips than his nearest competitor. That is a good cushion to have and certainly the top six will feel they have a good chance of progressing.
The pressure is on Tamayo, Latinois and Gonzalez here so expect to see some early action with all three likely to try and double up through an opponent with a healthier chip stack at the first opportunity.
Experience

- Brian Kim
- Joe Serock
- Niklas Astedt
- Jason Sagle
- Jonathan Tamayo
- Boris Angelov
- Andres Gonzalez
- Malo Latinois
- Jordan Griff
Griff may have the edge in chips, but in terms of experience of playing for big money, he is at the bottom of the list with Latinois and Gonzalez. The top five players won’t be fazed playing for the bigger bucks in the 2024 WSOP Main Event and that is something to consider.
Luck
Now for the aspect of the game you cannot facilitate for. Who will Lady Luck be on the side of at the 2024 WSOP Main Event final table?
We’ve already seen some miracle escapes, Jordan Griff hitting a queen on the river to complete a better set for one. But there will be many twists and turns as luck, or a lack of it, plays a key role in deciding who wins the hand.
For our money, Brian Kim is the man to watch to win the 2024 WSOP Main Event, especially with his experience and healthy chip position in second. But don’t rule out Joe Serock or Jason Sagle.
However, we’d love Jordan Griff to land the title and complete a fairytale story at the 2024 WSOP Main Event!
