This Sunday, one of the biggest sporting events of the year takes place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. The home team Tampa Bay Buccaneers will become the first team to try and win a Super Bowl on home soil as they face off against the current Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
It is a game that has a number of intriguing subplots. It is two high-octane offenses duelling it out against two decent, but beatable, defenses. It is a coach who has developed one team using young talent in the draft, against one that has signed a huge number of experienced players to bring immediate success to his franchise.
It also pits two of the very best quarterbacks in the game today, the Bucs Tom Brady and the Chiefs Patrick Mahomes, against one another for a fourth time, with the veteran Brady leading the series so far 2-1. And yet there is so much more going on in this game that it is literally impossible to unravel every thread.

Super Bowl LV Preview
Kansas City Chiefs V Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bucs Hit Trio Of Road Wins To Come Home For Super Bowl
Tampa Bay earned their place in Super Bowl LV thanks to three solid victories on the road in the playoffs. After finishing second to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South with an 11-5 regular season record, Tampa were seeded fifth in the NFC.
That necessitated a trip to Washington where the Bucs prevailed 31-23. The following week, they renewed their NFC South rivalry with the New Orleans Saints and gained revenge for two losses in the regular season to the Saints by earning a 30-20 victory.
That sent them into a NFC Conference Championship game in Green Bay, where despite cold weather, Tampa Bay ended an eight game cold weather losing streak in Green Bay hanging on to win 31-26 in what was a tight and at times, unusual game.
Their star man is 43-year-old quarterback Tom Brady, who is ably supported by a fine cast of offensive talent. The greatest player of all time according to many, this will be his 10th Super Bowl appearance and he has won six Super Bowl rings.
His signing was seen as a risk by head coach Bruce Arians, but it is one that has paid off handsomely as the Bucs now get the chance to become the first team ever to win a Super Bowl on home soil.
Chiefs Dominant In AFC But Pushed In The Playoffs
After a 14-2 season, the Chiefs qualified for the post-season as the top seed in the AFC. That afforded them a bye on Wildcard Weekend which meant their first game would be against the Cleveland Browns in the Divisional Round.
Although the Chiefs won that game 22-17, a concussion sustained by Patrick Mahomes in that game was a huge worry for them and it was touch and go whether he would be fit for the game against the Bills for the AFC Championship.
In the end, Mahomes recovered and played a key role in the Chiefs excellent win over the Bills. The 38-24 scoreline not really indicative of just how much the Chiefs dominated the game through their incredible offense.
Mahomes will be fit for the Super Bowl too and he will be chasing a rare back-to-back double of Super Bowl victories, last achieved by Tom Brady when he played for the New England Patriots. He is hampered by a Turf Toe injury, but two weeks rest should have helped clear that issue a little.
Andy Reid’s outstanding offense has been the key to the Chiefs success over the last two years and it is so strong in all areas that no team has effectively found a way to stop them. That is the size of the task facing the Buccaneers in what is likely to be a high-scoring Super Bowl.
What Are The Markets To Back On Super Bowl LV?
Before I give you a list of my tips for Super Bowl LV, I had best first explain just how I see this game going.
I think Tampa Bay will make a strong start and that Brady will take the Bucs into a first quarter lead. However, I think after that, Mahomes and the Chiefs will take over, claw back that deficit to take a lead at half time, extend that lead further in the third quarter and then see the game home in the fourth.
I do see both sides scoring points, so I do feel it will be a relatively high-scoring Super Bowl but my estimate is that the Chiefs will win by a scoreline of something like 38-31.
So with that in mind, the following bets I would make at bet365 at the moment are:
- Spread – Kansas City (-3.0) – 5/6
- Total Over/Under – Over 56 Points – 10/11
- Money Line – Kansas City – 10/17
The other bet I would make on the game would be on the MVP market and I think the odds look good that it will be the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes that celebrates a second Super Bowl MVP title in two years. (5/6).
