Well the good Six Plus Holdem Bet365news is that if you are a Bet365 Poker customer (and if you aren’t, why not join here by reading about the latest Bet365 no deposit bonus) then you have that challenge right here available on the site.

It’s called Six Plus Hold’em and it is the newest form of poker to be offered by Bet365 Poker, after being originally released on the site a few months back.

So, what kind of challenge does Six Plus Hold’em hold in store for you? What do you need to know about the game and will this be easier or more difficult to be profitable at compared to standard Hold’em?

In this article, we aim to find out as we give you the lowdown on this fast and exciting new format of the game.

What’s the main difference between Six Plus Hold’em and Standard Hold’em?

Essentially there are far more similarities between Six Plus Hold’em and Standard Texas Hold’em than there are differences. You use the same hands, the rounds of betting progress in the same way and you still get to see a flop, turn and river as a hand progresses. Players are dealt two hole cards and essentially the mechanics of the games are hugely similar.

The key fundamental difference however is that in Six Plus Hold’em, the four lowest value cards of each suit have been removed from the pack. The 2, 3, 4 and 5 of each suit, which means that you are playing with a pack of 36 cards, from the six card onwards (hence, Six Plus Hold’em).

However, removing those 16 cards from the pack does have an impact on one key aspect of the game. The hand rankings.

What impact do these differences have on the Hand Rankings?

Having removed the four lowest value cards of each suit from the pack, this has an impact on how the hands rank against each other. In a standard game of Texas Hold’em, the hand rankings Bet365 Poker Bonus Offerare as follows:

  1. Royal Flush
  2. Straight Flush
  3. Four of a Kind
  4. Full House
  5. Flush
  6. Straight
  7. Three of a Kind
  8. Two Pair
  9. Pair
  10. High Card

However, in Six Plus Hold’em, a Flush ranks more highly than a full house as with four fewer cards in the pack, it is more difficult to get this hand than it is a full house. Similarly, it is more difficult to hit three of a kind than it is a straight meaning for Six Plus Hold’em the hand rankings are as follows (standard hold’em ranking in brackets)

  1. Royal Flush (1)
  2. Straight Flush (2)
  3. Four of a Kind (3)
  4. Flush (5)
  5. Full House (4)
  6. Three of a Kind (7)
  7. Straight (6)
  8. Two Pair (8)
  9. Pair (9)
  10. High Card (10)

As such it is important to remember these rankings (or have them available for easy reference) while you get used to the game initially as the different strengths of each of the middle hands can cause some confusion for people more used to standard Texas Hold’em.

Are there any rule changes between Six Plus Hold’em and Standard Hold’em?

Other than the difference in hand rankings and the smaller pack of cards, there are absolutely no other differences between the two games.

Indeed it is this very fact that has persuaded many a Texas Hold’em player to give Six Plus Hold’em a try, including some of the biggest names in the game, such as Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey. Six Plus Hold’em is also hugely popular in the Far East where it enjoys popularity on a par with the standard format of Hold’em in places like Macau.

Is Six Plus Hold’em easier or more difficult to play than Standard Hold’em?

This is a very difficult question to answer because depending on what aspect of the game you are looking at, Six Plus Hold’em can be easier and also more difficult than Texas Hold’em to play. What do we mean by that seemingly paradoxical statement?

Well first off, having 16 fewer cards in the pack means that there are considerably fewer hand options in each deal. Given that a lot of the lower value cards are now missing, this narrows down the number of poor quality hands while increasing the number of higher quality hands you are likely to be dealt in terms of proportion.

Therefore, it should be a little easier to recognise when you have decent hand and when to play it at the table and also when you don’t have a good hand to play and when you should fold.

However, once the betting starts and hand rankings start to play a part as the flop, turn and river cards are revealed, this is where things can get a bit more complicated than in a game of standard Hold’em.

That’s because in this version of the game, it is more likely you’ll have a stronger hand to play, but it is also more likely your opponents will too. This means that often you’ll have strong hands taking on strong hands and this therefore means gaining an insight into what a player holds in their hand through their betting alone, can be extremely difficult.

It’s also vital to be completely aware of the different hand rankings. If the board is showing a potential easy straight for someone and you are sitting with a low value three of a kind, in standard Hold’em the smart play here would be to fold. In Six Plus, you are winning, so you’d want to stay in the game to push home your advantage. Similarly, if the board is showing a strong likelihood of a flush and you have a full house, it may be prudent to fold this hand if you believe an opponent has a flush as you have the weaker hand in Six Plus.

What Six Plus Hold’em games does Bet365 Poker offer?six-plus-holdem-choices-bet365

At Bet365, currently the site offers a choice of five Six Plus Hold’em Cash Tables for different levels of stakes.

You can play at the following tables:

  • €0.02/€0.04
  • €0.05/€0.10
  • €0.10/€0.20
  • €0.25/€0.50
  • €0.50/€1.00

I would strongly suggest that all players initially start at the lower stakes tables to hone their skills and get used to the rule changes before attempting to play on the higher stakes tables. Once you have a feel for how the game progresses and how certain hands play out and you are confident in your ability to play the game profitably, then you should try at the next stakes table.
