Hennessy Gold Cup And Davis Cup Top The Betting Charts This Weekend
This weekend sees one of the biggest races of the National Hunt season as several of the top horses convene for the big meet at Newbury, the highlight of which is Saturday’s Hennessy Gold Cup, 
starting off at around 3pm.
Saphir Du Rheu has emerged as the clear favourite for the race and despite the withdrawal of Gold Cup winner Coneygree earlier this week, which means the six-year-old will carry top weight in the race. You can back Saphir Du Rheu at around 3/1 with a number of bookmakers though it may well be worth keeping an eye on the price during the build up to the race.
Bobs Worth is another horse with a chance, the 6-1 shot is a former Gold Cup winner and has returned to form this season and in the absence of Coneygree, will likely give Saphir Du Rheu his biggest challenge.
Another key sporting event taking place this weekend is the Davis Cup Final in Ghent, Belgium, where the hosts will take on Great Britain, seeking to win the trophy for the first time since 1936, over three days of action.
The first day (Friday) will see two singles games with Andy Murray very much Great Britain’s key player. Indeed, Murray will likely have to win both his singles games if Great Britain are to have any chance of lifting the trophy.
The Belgians though have opted to play the game on clay, indoors and this is Murray’s least favourite surface. So it may be up to another singles player, possibly James Ward, to inspire Great Britain on to victory.
