The Brand New Sky Poker Rewards System: How Does It Work?

Sky Poker Rewards BonusOver the past few months Sky Poker have been hard at work revamping several aspects of their site, as well as coming up with an alternative to the now discontinued Sky Poker TV.

While the loss of the TV channel was a blow for poker fans, the good news for Sky customers is that the company has given their customer rewards scheme, entitled Sky Poker Rewards, a considerable revamp.

In this article, we are going to take a look at how the new Sky Poker rewards system now works. How you earn points, what the thresholds are for you to receive the different types of rewards available as well as the changes to how these rewards are distributed.

Then to finish, for the higher rollers who spend a lot of time on the site each month, we’ll take a look at the Sky Poker Priority Rewards scheme, for those customers who earn 10,000 poker points or more each month.

But let’s begin with an overview of the reward scheme for the more casual player: Sky Poker Rewards.

New players are automatically included on the scheme when they join, so if you’d like to join Sky Poker now, you’ll be able to take full advantage of this reward scheme and receive a Sky Poker free no deposit bonus.

Sky Poker Rewards explained

no deposit poker bonus SkyThe first thing to note about Sky Poker Rewards is that how you earn Poker Points on the site hasn’t changed. You still earn poker points at the rate of six per £1 wagered in Cash Games and ten Poker Points per £1 paid in registration fees in Sit & Go games and Tournaments. However, there are other factors in the reward scheme that have changed.

The original Sky Poker Rewards scheme saw players earn Poker Points by playing in any cash poker game on the Sky Poker site. They would accumulate these points over the course of a month and then once the month had finished, any rewards that they had earned would be credited to the player’s account within a few days of the following month starting.

However, in the updated scheme, Sky Poker have altered a couple of key issues. Firstly, the thresholds and rewards a player can earn have changed slightly and secondly, the rewards are now issued on a weekly basis, rather than a monthly.

The new Sky Poker Rewards Scheme offers six different levels of rewards, which level you qualify for is indicated by the Rewards Badge, which itself is determined by the points level you earn in a qualifying week. The good news is that Sky Poker have started to offer players rewards at considerably lower levels than was possible in the previous rewards programme.

This is great news for more casual players who may not have spent the required amount to earn any award on the older rewards scheme, but who now could potentially earn a small reward every week through their play on the site.

The table below outlines what the exact Weekly Sky Poker Rewards program is, how many poker points you need to earn to qualify for that reward and what the bonus and any other benefits you receive when you achieve that reward level.

Rewards Badge Poker Points Required Bonus or Rakeback Other Benefits
Blue 50 to 99 £1k Freeroll Mon-Fri
Steel 100 to 499 £2.30 token £1k Freeroll Mon-Fri
Bronze 500 to 999 1p per point earned £1k Freeroll Mon-Fri
Silver 1000 to 1499 1.25p per point earned £1k Freeroll Mon-Fri
Gold 1500 to 1999 1.5 per point earned £1k Freeroll Mon-Fri
Platinum 2000 or more 2p per point earned £1k Freeroll Mon-Fri

There are some things to note here and the first is that all players who earn a rewards badge will earn entry into one of five weekday £1,000 Reward Freeroll events. There are five of these played each week from Monday to Friday at 7.30pm each day and registration for these events opens at 5pm.

Once you have earned 100 points or more, in addition to entry into the next weeks Freeroll events, you also start to earn other bonuses. For players earning 100 to 499 points, you receive a tournament token worth £2.30 (although at the time of writing, there is a technical issue with this and instead players are receiving £2.30 in cash instead).

Those who earn 500 points in a week or more receive a bonus of some rakeback on their spend. The amount of rakeback you earn increases as you pash through each threshold, starting at 1p per Sky Poker Point earned for the Bronze level, up to 2p per Sky Poker point earned for Platinum level members.

What does this translate into in actual terms? Well lets look at two examples from either end of the scale.

Firstly, let’s say you earn 500 Sky Poker Points in a week.

For this you receive entry into each of the five daily £1k Freeroll events at 7.30pm Monday through to Friday, but you must register for each from 5pm onwards on the day it is played. In addition, you qualify for a Bronze level reward of 1p rakeback per point earned. You earned 500 points, which is 500p, or £5, which is credited to your Sky Poker account the following week.

Now for the second example, let’s say you earn 2000 Poker Points in a week.

Once again, you receive entry into all the daily freerolls, but this time you qualify for a Platinum level award of rakeback at the rate of 2p per point earned. For 2000 Points, that is 4000p, or £40. Which will be credited to your Sky Poker account the following week.

However, if you are a high roller player who regularly achieves platinum level each week, then you could qualify for an additional bonus, as part of the Monthly Sky Poker Priority Rewards.

Monthly Sky Poker Priority Rewards – big bonuses for higher rollers

If you earn over 10,000 points in a qualifying month, then in addition to all the weekly rewards you receive (which would be considerable), Sky Poker will also pay you an additional bonus.

Once again you will be entered into all of the daily £1k Freeroll events, but in addition, you will also earn significant rakeback on your spend.

Here’s how the four Monthly Priority Rewards thresholds are structured:

Rewards Badge Poker Points Required Rakeback
Priority Bronze 10,000+ per month 10%
Priority Silver 20,000+ per month 12.5%
Priority Gold 30,000+ per month 15%
Priority Platinum 50,000+ per month 20%

What does this mean? Let’s use a single example to explain. Let’s say you are a high roller who spends a considerable amount at Sky Poker and you earn 50,000 Sky Poker points over the course of the month though playing Sit & Go and Tournament Games.

That equates to around £5,000 (£1 in registration fees accounts for 10 Poker Points) spent to accrue those points over the month. However, you have earned Priority Platinum Status and as a result receive 20% in rakeback for those fees.

As such, this means Sky Poker will give you back 20% of your £5,000 spent accruing the points, which is £1,000.

Remember too, you can still accrue all the weekly rewards on top of the monthly rewards, which is why the new Sky Rewards scheme can be so profitable for some players.

What is certainly true is that the new Sky Poker Rewards system offers a far greater range of offers and will include more players than the previous version. That can only be a good thing as regardless of whether you spend thousands per month, or just a few pounds each day, it is always a positive to get something back for your loyalty.
