Let’s begin by taking a quick look at what is in store over the final few days of one of the biggest horse racing meets of the year.

Royal Ascot – Concludes Saturday 22^nd June

The five days of Royal Ascot began on Tuesday 18^th June and will culminate on Saturday 22^nd June with millions of pounds in prize money still to be won and of course, the Royal Family in attendance across this massive horse racing meeting that is the highlight of the summer for many.

With the final two days promising some exciting action beginning on Friday with two massive Group 1 races seeing the Commonwealth Cup contested over six furlongs, followed immediately by the Coronation Stakes over the old mile.

Our tip for the Commonwealth Cup is the 11/8 favourite Ten Sovereigns, while in the Coronation Stakes, while the smart money seems to be on even money favourite Hermosa, we think that Jubiloso at 4/1 with bet365 is well worth a closer look.

The big race on Saturday is the Diamond Jubilee Stakes which is contested over six furlongs and which boasts a stellar field of competitors and of the contenders, we think that Bound for Nowhere at 8/1, especially with the Brexit madness occurring in the UK right now, certainly has a nice ring to it.

Copa America – Final Group Games Begin

After their humiliating draw on home soil to Venezuela, Brazil are now facing a very tricky final group game against Peru, knowing that a defeat could see them eliminated from the competition if Venezuela can beat Bolivia in the other game in that group. Both those games in Group A of the Copa America kick off at 8pm UK time on Saturday 22^nd June.

This is followed on Sunday night by the final games in Group B, which will see Colombia take on Paraguay and Qatar face off against an out of sorts Argentina. The second games for these teams are being played on Wednesday evening, with Colombia facing Qatar knowing a win will confirm them as qualified, while Argentina desperately need a win against a tricky Paraguay side.

Then at midnight on Monday, the final games on Group C will take place with Chile facing Uruguay in what should be a battle for top spot in the group, while Ecuador will face Japan in the hope that they could still secure one of the two available third-place qualification spots for the knockout phase.

African Cup of Nations – Egypt Get the Tournament Underway

The African Cup of Nations gets underway on Friday with Egypt, hosts and favourites to win the tournament, facing Zimbabwe in the opening game at 9pm UK time. This is followed by three more games across Saturday and Sunday as the Democratic Republic of Congo face Uganda, followed by Nigeria v Burundi and Guinea v Madagascar.  This will see the first games in Groups A and B completed.

On Sunday Morocco face Namibia, before Senegal take on Tanzania and then Algeria and Kenya round off the weekend’s action in Egypt. The action here taking place from teams in Groups C and D.

Formula 1 – French Grand Prix

Also taking place this weekend with qualifying on Saturday, followed by the race on Sunday, is the French Grand Prix. Mercedes have dominated the season so far, with one of their drivers winning all seven races so far, but after a much better performance by Ferrari in Canada, the Italian team will be hoping their drivers can end that run of wins at the Paul Ricard circuit in La Castellet.

Despite this Lewis Hamilton, the World Champion and winner of five races already this season, starts as the 8/11 favourite with bet365 and his team mate Valtteri Bottas is 11/4 to win what would be his third race of the season. Sebastian Vettel is a 9/2 chance with his team mate Charles Leclerc 7/1. Max Verstappen of Red Bull is a 22/1 chance.

My money here would be on another Hamilton win. Mercedes dominated in this race last season and it is hard to see them doing anything less this time around.
