Send Your Winnings Sky High With The New Weekly Sky Poker High Roller Tournament

Sky Poker are well known for having an established routine of weekly tournaments and it is generally rare that they make a change to that. Each night sees a Main and Mini event (which you sky-poker-high-roller-tournamentcould earn a prize in the Final Table Jackpot bonus if you are at the final table of both) and these events are well established within the Sky Poker community.

Indeed, many people that join Sky Poker do so simply to enjoy events such as these regular tournaments as they offer guaranteed high quality poker every night of the week. However starting on Tuesday 20th September, a brand new event has hit the Sky Poker schedules and going forward, Tuesday night will be the place where punters with perhaps a bit more in their bankroll can look forward to some top quality poker action with Sky Poker’s Sky High Roller tournament.

The Sky High Roller tournament explained

The first thing to note about this new event is the time which sees it take place every Tuesday night at 9pm UK time. This means that the High Roller event starts after the Main and Mini events (8pm and 8.30pm) that evening.

Buy in to the tournament is at the high roller level, which means that it is £220, £200 of which is a contribution to the prize fund and £20 the Sky Poker registration fee. The minimum amount guaranteed for this tournament each week by Sky Poker is £8,000. The event if a freezeout event, which means players cannot rebuy into the event when eliminated.

The stack size for each player at the start of the event is 5,000 chips and the blinds are raised in size every 12 minutes. You can register late for the event up to the end of Level 6 (which means you have around 72 minutes from the start of the event to register to take part, otherwise you’ll miss out).

As you can guess by the name of the tournament, this is an event that has been added to the schedule to meet the needs of Sky Poker customers who want to play for larger amounts of money. However, players who don’t have £220 to spare can earn their place in this tournament each week thanks to a number of different satellite options.

How to satellite in to the Sky High Roller

For the majority of Sky Poker players, £220 for a tournament each week is a lot of money, but there is a way you can participate in this tournament without having to front up the entire buy in sky-high-roller-satellitescost and that is to satellite into the event.

There are essentially three ways you can earn a place in each weekly Sky High Roller tournament via satellite:

  • Sky High Roller All In Tournament

If you are looking for a last minute chance to participate in the Sky High Roller, then visit Sky Poker every Tuesday night at 20:45, 20:50 and 20:55 to participate in any of the three Sky High Roller All In tournaments.

As an All-in event, every player that pays the £2.20 + £0.10 buy in is placed All In on each hand of the tournament until the winning player remains. There is one seat guaranteed for the winner in that night’s Sky High Roller in each of the three events. If more than 199 players participate, then that number of guaranteed seats may increase.

  • Sky High Roller Frenzy Satellite

These events are available every Monday and Tuesday night at 19:45, 20:15 and 20;45 across both days and as the name suggests, these are tournaments where the blinds rise very quickly (every minute) in order to ensure that the tournament is played through quickly.

Players start with 3,000 chips and you are allowed to rebuy back in to the event up to 30 minutes after the start time. For every 100 players contesting any of the Sky High Roller events there will be one seat in the Sky High Roller tournament to be won, with the minimum of one seat available for any tournament.

  • Sky High Roller Satellite & Semi

If you prefer the more traditional form of satellite tournament then you have two choices available to you to try and play your way into a £220 buy in at the Sky High Roller event each Tuesday.

First you can buy into the Sky High Roller Semi. These events take place at 20:30 every Saturday, Sunday and Monday night and at 19:30 on a Tuesday evening. The buy in is £44, plus £4 for £48 total. You start with 3,000 chips and the blinds raise on average every seven minutes.  There are four seats into the Sky High Roller available for the top quartet of players in this event.

If that is still a little too expensive for your tastes then you can try and satellite your way into the Semi event by taking part in the Sky High Roller satellite. These events take place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights at 17:30, 18:30 and 19:30 and on Tuesday there are two more satellites at 17:30 and 18:30.

Once again you start with 3,000 chips and the blinds increase every five minutes. The Buy In for this event is just £9.60 + £0.90 and in every satellite held, there are a minimum of three seats into the Semi to be won.

What are my chances of success in the Sky High Roller?

If a poker player is a higher roller and plays for more money then they are either wealthy and looking for the thrill of playing for more cash, or more likely, they are an accomplished Sky Poker Double Your Moneyplayer who have built up a hefty bankroll and are accustomed to playing for larger amounts of money than usually available at sites like Sky Poker.

In the first instance, you could be lucky and find yourself at the table with a load of wealthy donks, but in truth, you are far more likely to be at a table against high quality opposition. That means that your opponents are likely to be stronger in this event than in the usual Sky Poker tournament.

Of course, with the satellite system in place, there will also be a number of players in the tournament that have satellite into it and given the nature of these events, it is likely these players will be a mix of abilities.

In any case, this is likely to be an event dominated by the stronger players on Sky Poker so you need to be sure you are on your game if you are to win the most possible from it.
