Using Your SkyBet Account For Free Access To Fantasy Football

Most people are aware that if you open a single account with a Sky gambling site, then that one account offers you access to the full range of products on the Sky platform.Sky Fantasy Football

For example, if you took advantage of the fantastic new Sky Poker no deposit bonus offer and signed up, then not only would you be able to enjoy a wide range of poker on the Sky platform, but your account would also give you access (via the same log in) to all other gambling sites on the Sky platform, such as SkyBet, Sky Vegas, Sky Casino and Sky Bingo.

While this is relatively well known with Sky customers, perhaps less well known is the fact that your SkyBet account (that is the general term used to describe your Sky Account for all sites) also offers you the chance to participate in some additional, free to play but potentially rewarding other games.

The first of these is the Soccer Saturday Super 6 game which we have already looked at in detail in a post relatively recently, but it is the second of these games, Fantasy Football that we are going to take a look at in this article.

What is Sky’s Fantasy Football game?

Sky’s Fantasy Football is their version of the popular Fantasy Sport games that are played every season across a number of sports, but which are especially popular in the UK for football and in the United States for American Football.

In the Sky Fantasy Football game, players pick a team of 11 players and each week their real-life performances on the football field determined how many points each individual player in that team scores. The individual scores for each of the 11 players are totalled up to give a team score.

Each player in the game is allocated a certain Fantasy Football value and each team has the same budget of £75m to spend on eleven players. Teams cannot at any point exceed the £75m cap limit (including when transfers are made).

These scores are then collated each game week throughout the season and added to the teams total, thus creating a league table of teams involved in the same competition. The aim being for teams to win the competition, or at least finish in a cash prize position.

Of course, during the course of a season players can get injured, transferred out of the league, dropped, lose form or similar and to help players maintain an optimum team, each player has 40 transfers which they can use throughout the season to make changes to their team.

How do I play Sky’s Fantasy Football?

Sky Sports Fantasy Football IntroRegistering to play is very simple. All you need is your SkyBet log in details to sign up. Log in to the Fantasy Football site using these details and you will be taken to the Team Selection page.

Here you can select a name for your Fantasy Team and then pick your team of eleven players. You can play to a number of different formations (433, 442, 451, 352, 532 or 343) by picking the relevant number of players from each of the four positions.

  • Goalkeeper (1 selection)
  • Defenders (3, 4 or 5 selections depending on formation)
  • Midfielders (3, 4, or 5 selections depending on formation)
  • Strikers (1,2 or 3 selections depending on formation)

All players are listed under these broad categories and not under specific positions. For example there are no right back, left backs, centre backs or sweepers, all these players are listed under “defenders”.

Once you have picked your team in the chosen formation and it is under the £75m cap, then you can select which leagues you wish to enter your team in. There are a number of default leagues in operation on SkyBet which you can join for free. You can enter your team in one or all of these leagues if you wish.

However, if you wish to play against friends then you can organise your own league and only enter these teams. You can even all pay an amount of money to SkyBet to watch for you to pay the winner of the league if you so wish. There are a number of leagues available to play in and some of these offer weekly, monthly or seasonal prizes.

What can I win if I enter Sky’s Fantasy Football?

What you can win in terms of prizes depends on the leagues that you enter when you play Fantasy Football. In the Main SkyBet League, you can win £20,000 if you are the top point scorer during the season with other prizes paid down to the 5th placed manager.

Additionally the highest points scorer in a month will win an iPad and an Apple Watch. There are also weekly prizes of an iPad Mini for the top points scorer during a game week, plus free bets of between £5 and £50 for the players ranked 2nd to 25th in any game week.

Furthermore, there are a number of other prizes available both cash prizes and tech prizes, for other leagues on offer on the Sky Platform, including privately run leagues between smaller groups of individuals as well as the Sky-sponsored leagues.

How much does playing Sky’s Fantasy Football cost to play?

The great thing is that it is absolutely free to play Fantasy Football. The only proviso is that you have a valid SkyBet log in. The only fees that may be incurred come if you decide to set up a private Football Bets SkyBetleague and each player decides to contribute an agreed sum of money to be shared amongst the winner at the end of the season, but this is entirely voluntary and private leagues can still be set up and played free of any charge.

Top Tips for Fantasy Football

If you want to try your hand at Fantasy Football you can join at any point during the season (although you won’t have much chance of winning the season long prizes if you leave it too late) and there are some very useful tips available to help you make the most of your team. If possible, it is always best to join just before the opening weekend of the season to maximise your chances of success.

  • Check out Sky Sports Fantasy Football TV show with Paul Merson and Max Rushden each week for a number of tips with players with potentially favourable match ups.
  • Keep a close eye out on players in your team that are dropped, injured or suspended as they cannot score you any points even though they are in your team. Transfer any of these players out of your team when you can to keep your team optimised.
  • Check the player lists for players listed in one position that may potentially play in another. For example, Eric Dier is listed as a defender in the game, but at the moment he is playing in midfield for Tottenham Hotspur.
  • Also keep a close eye on defenders especially but also midfielders that are set piece specialists, or who take penalties for their team as they can be a valuable source of fantasy points.
  • Clean sheets are important for goalkeepers and defenders, so remember to focus on teams that do not concede many goals when considering players in these positions.
  • Midfield and forward players need to be creative (goal assists) and score goals to be strong Fantasy Football selections.

Follow these tips and take advantage of the extra bonuses your SkyBet account offers you with Sky Fantasy Football for this and the forthcoming Premier League football season.
