Listen Up! It’s Sports Podcast Time!

Looking for a sports-themed podcast or two? Join the club!

We’re already deep into the podcast world and follow a tonne of great poker podcasts, naturally. But we find that as much as we love sports, sometimes there’s a little gap in our feed when it comes to the great sports-themed podcast arena.

So we’re going to go on a little journey to see if we can find the best of the best out there right now. And maybe you’ll find something that you’ll want to hit follow on too…

Wrighty’s House

We love a sports-themed podcast with a star host. And former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright certainly fits the bill here. Check out Wrighty’s House and let the EPL legend take you through the biggest stories of the moment among other key issues affecting the sport. He’s always joined by a few other people, and this changes every week. Listen out for very special guests with familiar names.

The Players

Alright, we’ve dealt with the men. Now let’s move onto the women in football. BBC 5 Live’s The Players is excellent. Hosted by World Cup England player and Olympian Bex Smith, this is a great look at the inner workings of the female sport. It’s surging in popularity at the moment, so this podcast series from a few years ago is even more relevant than ever.

Wheel It Up F1

Wheel It Up F1 is so much fun to listen to. Certainly one of the best sports-themed podcasts about Formula 1, this trio of female hosts are going to tell you everything you need to know to keep up-to-date. Chanise, Anita and Simone cover race reviews, the juiciest gossip and there’s plenty of time for strong opinions too. If you care about F1, you’re going to love it.

Beef’s Golf Club

Not exactly the most exclusive club around, Beef’s Golf Club is designed to make the elite sport of golf a little more accessible. Hosted by European Tour champ Beef Johnston and golf-obsessive John Rubin, this gives you fascinating insights into the sport. Yes, they’ll chat about big sporting events like The Open and The Masters. But you can expect guests from different walks of life gabbing alongside the two hosts too.

30 for 30

Less chatty than some of our other options, 30 for 30 by ESPN is all about the deep dives. This sports-themed podcast produces in-depth standalones and series about some of the most interesting stories in your favorite sports. Of course, being American, there’s definitely a skew towards North American sports. If you’re looking for somewhere to start, we think a good series to get going with is the story of rapper Nipsey Hussle, who had close ties to basketball, in The King Of Crenshaw.

The Athletic Football Show

Speaking of sports from across the pond, if you’re big into the NFL, we think that The Athletic Football Show is more than likely going to be a hit with you. It’s one of the most prolific sports-themed podcast series we know. If things are heating up in the world of the NFL, you can expect several episode drops A DAY. And host Robert Mays seriously knows what he’s doing at the helm of this in-depth podcast.

And after listening to a sports-themed podcast, maybe you’d like to have a little flutter?
