Season Preview The Premier League 2023/24 Part One – Bottom to 11th

Here is our Premier League Season Preview for the 2023/24 season, where we predict the final positions of the 20 teams.

We are going to do something a little different with our Premier League season preview this year.

Instead of previewing each team alphabetically, I am going to cover them in the order I think they will finish.

From bottom of the table, right up to the Premier League Champions.

In each article I’ll give you the reasons why I have picked the team in that position. Plus I’ll give you a bet to back for that team over the course of the season.

All betting odds and markets are available at bet365 Sport. However remember the odds may change in the time after this post is published.

This is part one of a two-part article where we look at positions 20th to 11th.

In the second part of the series, we look at the teams that I predict will finish 10th to 1st.

So without any further ado, let’s start with the team that I feel could have a struggle on their hands this season.

Premier League Predictions 2023/24

20th Place – Luton Town

It’s going to be a long season for the Hatters. Having to play away from home in their opening games will be tough and could put them behind the 8 ball immediately. They have not spent big and are relying on the squad that won them promotion. Experience shows, that rarely works in the EPL. Unless they make a couple of notable signings in key areas, then I think the Hatters will struggle. Key Man – Tom Lockyer

Top Tip – Number of Promoted Teams to be Relegated – 2 – 10/11

19th Place – AFC Bournemouth

Andoni Iraola is a brave appointment and it will be interesting to see if he can galvanise this Bournemouth side to produce more than they have the last two years. A lack of signings of any real quality is the main reason why I see the Cherries struggling. They just concede too many goals. I just don’t see the quality in depth defensively for the Cherries to avoid the drop this time around. Key Man – Philip Billinge

Top Tip – Bournemouth to be Relegated – 2/1

18th Place – Sheffield United

The Blades do have players with Premier League experience, but they have lost a couple of key players and their replacements are unproven at this level. There’s tenacity and pace and power in this team, but compared to some others, a stark lack of quality. They’ll push hard to avoid the drop but I feel that they may fall just short. Key Man – Sander Berge

Top Tip – Bournemouth, Luton & Sheff Utd to be relegated – 9/1

17th Place – Everton

Considering how they narrowly avoided the drop last season, I am staggered by the lack of movement in the market by Everton. Several big name players were freed last season but so far, no really notable stars have come in. That doesn’t bode well for me here and I think that the Toffees will face another long and difficult season ahead of them. Key Man – Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Top Tip – Everton to not be relegated – 2/9

16th Place – Crystal Palace

Palace do not score many goals and while Roy Hodgson did well to save them from the drop last season, I don’t think he is the long-term answer here. Also if Eze and Olise leave, then I think Palace’s already lacking goal output could be even worse. I think Palace are too good to go down, but I think this season will be a struggle. Key Man – Eberechi Eze

Top Tip – Crystal Palace to finish in bottom half – 1/3

15th Place – Burnley

Vincent Kompany’s team have once again not spent massive amounts coming up. It is a policy that served former manager Sean Dyche well and I think Kompany’s team are the best equipped of the three newly promoted teams to stay up. If they can land a couple of players on loan, then I think staying up and relatively comfortably is not beyond them. Key Man – Vincent Kompany (Manager)

Top Tip – Burnley not to be relegated – 2/7

14th Place – Nottingham Forest

Having bought relentlessly last season. Forest needed to give this team a chance to bed down. Steve Cooper has done just that and I can see them being all the better for it. They’ve still made some signings and assuming they get Man Utd duo Dean Henderson and Anthony Elanga, then I think they will be well set to improve on last year’s position.  Key Man – Taiwo Awoniyi

Top Tip – Nottingham Forest to finish higher than Everton – 11/8

13th Place – Fulham

I’ve provisionally put Fulham 13th based on the premise that they still have Marco Silva at the club and they can find a resolution to the issue with Aleksandar Mitrovic. If Silva goes and Mitrovic continues to fume away, then I fthink Fulham will plummet in the table from here. It’s imperative they hold on to their manager and top striker. Key Man – Marco Silva (manager)

Top Tip – To Finish in Bottom Half – 1/5

12th Place – Wolverhampton Wanderers

This is going to be a new look Wolves team that takes to the field this season. Neves, Jimenez, Moutinho, Costa, Traore have all gone. In its place is a new look team that probably will benefit from the freshening up. Julen Lopetegui is a strong manager and I think he will get this team moving in the right direction again. Key Man – Max Kilman

Top Tip – To Finish in Bottom Half – 1/5

11th Place – West Ham United

Last season, West Ham’s Premier League performances suffered on the back of their excellent Conference League form. That win will help them but they need to start investing the Declan Rice money wisely across the team. A goalscoring attacker and a replacement for Rice (Ward Prowse seems to be a favourite pick) would likely help them to a more respectable mid table finish. Key Man – Jarrod Bowen

Top Tip – West Ham to finish higher than Everton – 1/2

Remember to check back next week when we preview the remaining top ten positions in the Premier League this season.

And for all those additional tips for each team too!
