When people tend to place a bet, they tend to place bets on events that are happening if not the same day, then at some point in the near future. However, there is a whole raft of other types of bets to be made, which could offer you a massive increase in odds value compared to later on in the season, when you take a look at Ante Post or Futures betting.
As the name implies, Futures or Ante Post bets are those that are placed months in advance of when an event is set to take place or be concluded. There are many forms of these bets and amongst the most popular are bets on teams to win their respective divisions in soccer, teams to win the Superbowl in the NFL or even Ante Post bets on horses to win some of the marquis races in the flat racing or jump racing seasons.
Given that these bets can offer some outstanding odds, which may shrink to much smaller odds over time, I have decided to take a look at some of the best futures or ante post bets available right now and bring you those tips right here.
If you would like to have a bet on any of the betting tips we have outlined below, but you do not have an account with a bookmaker offering odds on all the markets and you would like to sign up and get a good value promotional offer when you do, then the place to start is with the latest bet365 New Player Bonus offer.
Bet365 Sport Open Account Offer
Up to £100 in Bet Credits for new customers at bet365.
Min deposit £5. Bet Credits available for use upon settlement of bets to value of qualifying deposit. Min odds, bet and payment method exclusions apply. Returns exclude Bet Credits stake. Time limits and T&Cs apply.
Bet365 offers an extensive range of bets across a wide range of sports, as well as In Play betting when games are taking place. However, if you live somewhere else in the world, like the United States, and sports betting is available in your state then there may be some other alternatives available to you with bet365 not being available. In Pennsylvania, the latest BetRivers Promo Code can get you signed up quickly and easily with that top ranked provider, while the same provider also operates in Indiana, but this time uses a BetRivers Affiliate Code “HOOSIERBONUS” for native Indianans to use when signing up.
Also, if you live in Nevada or New Jersey or a number of other states that offer sports betting, then the latest DraftKings Online Sportsbook is a great option too.
Let’s now take a look at some of the great value bets you can make right now for events in the future, which may offer you much better odds at the present than when the season gets a little deeper.
NFL – Season Specials
- Any team to go 16-0 in Regular Season – 9/1
- Any team to go 19-0 and win the Superbowl – 18/1
Having won the Superbowl last season with a very young team, and after keeping all the key men from that squad together this season, Kansas City were one of the favourites to win the Superbowl this year as it is. However, with games against the Texans, Ravens and Patriots across the first four weeks of the season, nobody really expected the Chiefs to potentially go the season unbeaten.
It is a rare phenomenon in the NFL, only the 1971 Miami Dolphins team have achieved the feat, although New England did go 18-0 a few years back before losing the Superbowl to the New York Giants in dramatic fashion.
However, after winning all four of their opening games, two against genuine AFC Championship rivals and with a remaining roster of games that isn’t anywhere near as difficult as three of their opening four, I do think the Chiefs are a great bet to either go 16-0 in the regular season, or even go 19-0 and win the Superbowl once again.
Tricky games to come include a trip to the Bills and also to the Buccaneers and Saints but other than that, I cannot see this superb team having too much trouble in their remaining games and none of the three teams I have mentioned above are as good as the Ravens.
The US Masters – Outright Winner
After being postponed in April, the US Masters will take place at Augusta in November and there are a number of players who will likely be in contention for what will the third of the Major Championships over the seven set to be contested in this unusual season.
Dustin Johnson, the recent winner of the Fedex Cup, is the 9/1 favourite, with August’s USPGA Winner Collin Morikawa a 25/1 shot. However, the most unusual prospect in my view is the controversial Bryson DeChambeau. The recent winner of the US Open, his tactics in trying to overpower the course with huge hitting has drawn critics, but proved to be very effective at Winged Foot.
DeChambeau is 10/1 for the title and that seems good odds, but I think Augusta is a more refined course and such a bash and dash approach won’t really work. As such, I think the best bet here is the talented and consistent Xander Schauffele, who at 16/1 I think is a fantastic value each way bet at this time.
UEFA Champions League – Outright Winners
Last season Bayern Munich rounded off a perfect Champions League campaign, winning all of the matches they contested in the group stages and beyond to claim their sixth Champions League title with a win over Paris St Germain. However, this year’s tournament looks to be extremely open given how teams have started the season.
In England, Man City, Liverpool and Man Utd have all suffered big defeats in recent times and even Bayern Munich themselves were not immune as they lost 4-1 to Hoffenheim in a Bundesliga game. PSG also started the season slowly with two defeats, while in Spain both Barcelona and Real Madrid seem to be in a process of rebuilding.
So could this be the season we see the most open Champions League for several years? The bookies have Manchester City and Bayern Munich as the joint 4/1 favourites with Liverpool 11/2 but outside that, the odds for teams increases rapidly with PSG an 11/1 shot.
For me, the smart bet here is Juventus. The Italian side are packed with talent and at 14/1 offer great value odds at present. If they can get the better of Barcelona in their Group G games over the coming months, you can expect those odds to shrink, so betting on them now may be wise.
2020 European Championship – Outright Winners
The delayed European Championships will take place next summer and we know 20 teams that will be competing, with four more to be confirmed after the Euro 2020 Playoffs are completed in November. We also know the draw for the tournament too and bookies have taken the somewhat astonishing step of making England the favourites to the tournament.
I find that staggering given their performance in this tournament over the years (England have never reached a final, let alone win it) and especially considering that World Cup holders France, World Ranked Number 1 team Belgium, plus Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy will all be in attendance next summer.
For me, the team to watch here is Italy. They are 12/1 with bet365 at the moment but I think have the right manager in Roberto Mancini and a very exciting young squad that has lots of talent. They also have the right mentality to win tournaments like this, even when they are not the strongest team, something that England sorely lack.
