Premier League Matchday 4 Preview and Tips

Last week could well have been a hallmark one even this early into the Premier League season. While Liverpool defeated Arsenal on Monday night 3-1 with a fantastic performance against the Gunners, Manchester City were well beaten at home by a rampant Leicester City, who smashed five goals past the out of sorts citizens, with Jamie Vardy grabbing a hattrick in the space of 21 minutes either side of half time.

With teams such as Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United already dropping three or more points this season, it was a good weekend for the Champions and Leicester, as well as Everton and Aston Villa who also kept their 100% records intact with solid victories. They are the only four teams that are unbeaten in the Premier League this season and all four are yet to drop a point.

With all ten games played across Saturday and Sunday this week due to an international break, it is going to be a busy weekend of games for fans and punters to enjoy and if you would like to join those that have a bet on the Premier League action each week, then a great place to kick off your betting journey is with the latest bet365 Sport New Player Bonus.

Let’s now take a quick look ahead to this weekend’s Matchday 4 series of games, all of which will be played across Saturday and Sunday ahead of another break for International games that will be played over the coming 12 days or so.

Premier League Matchday 4 Fixtures and Tips

Kick-off is 3pm unless stated.

  • Chelsea v Crystal Palace (12.30pm)

9th takes on 6th in the Premier League table in this London derby to kick off the weekend, only few would have expected Chelsea to be the lower positioned of the two teams. A defeat on penalties to Spurs in the Carabao Cup in midweek won’t have helped Frank Lampard’s team any but I feel they should be too strong against a Palace side who have started the season very well for Roy Hodgson with their only blemish being a home loss to unbeaten Everton. Tip – Chelsea to win – 2/5.

  • Everton v Brighton

Lying third in the table behind Leicester and their rivals Liverpool, Everton have enjoyed a superb start to the season and have also progressed in the Carabao Cup against West Ham in midweek. They should be too strong for a Brighton side that won their last away game at Newcastle, but who don’t really look equipped well enough to deal with the presence of that new look and hugely impressive midfield. Tip – Everton to win – 8/11.

  • Leeds Utd v Manchester City (5.30pm)

Man City have spent over 60 million on a new defender, Ruben Dias, in midweek to try and stem Bet365 EPL Poker Promotionthe goals against them but they face a Leeds side that has won its last two and for whom Patrick Bamford has scored in every Premier League game so far this season. Bielsa v Guardiola promises to be a cracker and while Leeds will make it difficult, I think you can’t ignore Manchester City’s quality in depth here and as such, I am backing them to win. Tip – Man City to win – 1/3.

  • Newcastle United v Burnley (8pm)

Their wins over West Ham and Morecambe apart, Newcastle’s performances this season have been sluggish and unimaginative to say the least. Then again, so have Burnley who are without a win so far this season in the league and who were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in midweek. Games between these two teams are usually tight and close and as such, I think a rare draw (there’s been just one in the EPL so far this season) could be on the cards. Tip – Draw – 11/5.

  • Leicester v West Ham (Sun, 12pm)

Two teams that excelled last weekend, Leicester will be buoyant after their 5-2 win at Man City put them top of the Premier League table, while West Ham’s fine win over Wolves also saw them pick up a valuable three points. However, I feel of the two, Leicester are by far the better and more dangerous team and I would be hugely surprised if the Foxes do not land the win here. Tip – Leicester to win – 8/13.

  • Southampton v West Brom (Sun 12pm)

After a sluggish start, Southampton bounced back to form with a fine 1-0 win over Burnley, while West Brom went 3-0 up against Chelsea, but were hauled back to eventually draw 3-3 with the Londoners. With Danny Ings looking sharp once again and in great form, I think that the Saints will have a little too much going forward for a worryingly open West Brom defence here. Tip – Southampton to win – 8/11.

  • Wolves v Fulham (Sun 2pm)

I think both of these teams have a lot to prove after what has been poor starts by their standard. Wolves have won a game already but have lost two and what was disappointing against West Ham last week was the lack of fight. Fulham have also been criticised because of a lack of fight and organisation and I can’t see things getting any better for Scott Parker’s team in the Midlands. Tip – Wolves to win – 1/2.

  • Arsenal v Sheff Utd (Sun 2pm)

The Gunners may have come unstuck against Liverpool last week but it has been an impressive start to the season for them in general and I would expect them to get the job done here against a Sheffield United side that look worryingly out of sorts for manager Chris Wilder and who sit in the drop zone after losing all of their three games so far this season. Tip – Arsenal to win – 4/7.

  • Manchester Utd v Tottenham (Sun 4.30pm)

It is fair to say that Manchester United have been worryingly below par in the Premier League so far this season, defeat to Palace and an extremely fortuitous win over Brighton means they have three points but in truth, it could and should have been just one or even zero. Tottenham have four points and perhaps should have six after they were harshly deemed to have given a penalty away against Newcastle last week. This will be a close one and I think a draw is a solid choice here. Tip – Draw – 11/4.

  • Aston Villa v Liverpool (Sun 7.15pm)

Last season Liverpool required two very late goals to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat against a relegation threatened Villa. This time around, Villa have won both their opening games in the Premier League and sit in fifth place in the table. The Reds are second after picking up three wins from three and even with Thiago missing, I still feel they should have more than enough quality to pick up the win here. Tip – Liverpool to win – 3/0.
