Wager More Win More With Bet365’s Poker’s Additional Twister Poker Games

A couple of years ago, Bet365 Poker decided to trial a new type of poker on their site. Unsure of how people would react, the company initially introduced Twister Poker as a limited time promotional item with the intention of removing the offer from the site if it didn’t prove to be a hit with players.

However, since the day it was released, Twister Poker has quickly grown to become one of the most popular games you can play on the Bet365 Poker site (and now the mobile client too).

Recently as part of a revamp of its poker services, Bet365 Poker have given their Twister Poker offering a little additional excitement by adding a couple of new games to the current line up, as well as introducing a new rule for how the prize pool is shared out amongst players on the higher value (€1,000+) games.

In this article, we are going to take a look at these changes, what they mean for the typical Twister Poker player and whether Twister Poker offers players of all abilities the chance of a regular profit.

What is Twister Poker?

Twister Poker is a game where three players, all of whom have paid the same buy in, are randomly placed at a table together to compete for a prize. The prize is decided by the size of the buy in each player paid subject to a multiplier. This process of picking the prize is displayed by means of a wheel which is spun (or twisted) in order to ascertain the prize.

The prize can be 2x, 4x, 6x, 10x, 20x, 50x, 100x, 200x or 1000x your buy in, although your chances of playing in a higher value game are considerably smaller than playing in a lower value game.

Once the prize pool is set, a standard game of Texas Hold’em between the three players ensues with blinds rising rapidly and with each player given just 500 chips to start the game. These two factors ensure that players have to act quickly in Twister Poker and mean that a typical game only takes between five and fifteen minutes to run from start to completion.

In most games of Twister Poker, the final player left at the table having eliminated both opponents is declared the winner and claims the complete prize fund. Although Bet365 have now amended this rule for some of the bigger prize tables (see below for more information).

Given the brisk nature of the game and the fact it is now playable on mobile, Twister Poker is hugely popular with poker players who have limited time to play in MTT’s or Cash Table games, but who enjoy the thrill of quick competition and the chance that they could be playing for a very large sum of money.

How have Bet365 improved Twister Poker?

The original Twister Poker on the Bet365 site had four different buy in levels available, €1, €2, €5 and €10. So the maximum you could win playing Twister Poker, if you were lucky enough to hit a 1,000 multiplier at the €10 tables, was €10,000.

However, recently Bet365 Poker has decided that given the extraordinary popularity of the game with customers, that they would offer some of their bigger bankroll players a chance to play for more than the original four sums of money. To that end, you can now play Twister Poker for two additional buy in amounts, €20 and €50.

The same multipliers apply to the two new games available as the original four, which means if you buy in for €20, you could be playing for anything between €40 and €20,000 per game. For the €50 buy in game that increases to €100 and €50,000 per game.

This has increased the top prize available playing Twister Poker to five times the original €10,000 top prize and will no doubt have encouraged several high roller players to give this exciting and enjoyable form of the game a try.

What happens if I buy into a Twister Poker game with a big money prize (€1,000+)

If you buy into a game at any buy in level where the prize on offer is €1,000 or more, then the standard rules for how the prize pool is paid out changes slightly. Bet365 recognise that some players who play for these big sums of money may not be used to doing so. As such, losing when so much money is on the line could be a massive blow to these players.

To alleviate this, Bet365 have a new rule for their big money Twister Poker games. What this rule states is that for any game with a prize pool of €1,000 or more, the prize money will be shared as follows.

• 10% of the prize pool will be awarded to the two eliminated players
• 80% of the prize pool will be awarded to the winner

What this means for example is that if you enter a €10 Twister Poker game and play for a prize pool of €10,000, you are guaranteed a prize of at least €1,000 simply for being drawn at the table. If you manage to win, then that prize increases to €8,000.

In this way, Bet365 can ensure that players who are lucky enough to be drawn at the rare high prize tables are not put in a position where they feel they could lose a huge amount of cash, if they don’t win the game, but are assured of at least a healthy payout of 100 times their initial stake.

Is Twister Poker profitable, or are there too many variables?

Certainly Twister Poker is a more even contest for players of all abilities. Short stacks and fast-rising blinds ensure that players are forced to act when ordinarily their poker strategy would suggest to them that they do otherwise.

However, skill and strategy still play a very important part in Twister Poker and it is fair to say that a player with sound strategy, good skills and the ability to know when to make the right move at the right time, will win far more often at this game, than a player who doesn’t possess this skill.

On the flip side of that, if you are a complete beginner, the nature of Twister Poker is such that you probably stand a better chance of winning at these games than you would a comparable Sit & Go game or MTT.
