NFL Standings – After Week 6 Games
NFC
NFC North | |
Minnesota Vikings | 5-1 |
Green Bay Packers | 3-3 |
Chicago Bears | 2-4 |
Detroit Lions | 1-4 |
There’s been a wind of change blowing through the North this season as the perennial winners of this division, the Green Bay Packers have just an 0.5 record on the season. With the Bears and Lions making small improvements, it is the Vikings that have taken full advantage by winning five of their six games so far to open up a two game lead over their rivals from Wisconsin.
NFC West | |
San Francisco 49ers | 3-3 |
Los Angeles Rams | 3-3 |
Seattle Seahawks | 3-3 |
Arizona Cardinals | 2-4 |
The Super Bowl Champions have struggled for form in the NFC West this season with the Rams second on head-to-head record behind the 49ers who have also struggled. The Seahawks are probably playing a little better than many expected to have the same record as the top two teams and with the Cardinals just one game behind the trio, this is still a division waiting for someone to find the form and take real control of it.
NFC East | |
Philadelphia Eagles | 6-0 |
New York Giants | 5-1 |
Dallas Cowboys | 4-2 |
Washington Commanders | 2-4 |
The Philadelphia Eagles are the only team with an unbeaten 100% record in the NFL after Week Six and they head into their bye week this week in a fantastic position in the NFC East with the perhaps surprising fact that it is the Giants that lie second after losing just one of their six. Dallas are fourth a game further back with the Commanders very much the poor relation in this company with just two wins.
NFC South | |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 3-3 |
Atlanta Falcons | 3-3 |
New Orleans Saints | 2-4 |
Carolina Panthers | 1-5 |
Over the last few seasons, this has been the Buccaneers division to lose but this season appears to be a bit different. The Bucs still top the division but the Atlanta Falcons have done very well to win three games while you cannot write off the Saints who lie a game further back. The Panthers though are struggling and after sacking their head coach just a couple of weeks ago, it looks like it could be a long tough season for Carolina fans to endure.
AFC
AFC North | |
Baltimore Ravens | 3-3 |
Cincinnati Bengals | 3-3 |
Cleveland Browns | 2-4 |
Pittsburgh Steelers | 2-4 |
This division always looked likely to be a close one and so it has proved with just one game separating all four teams. The Ravens and Bengals have stuttered somewhat to a 3-3 start, while the Browns have been disappointing in starting 2-4 and the Steelers have probably surprised a few onlookers with a 2-4 start despite being arguably the weakest team in the North at the moment. This division looks balanced on a knife edge and anybody could take control of it in the next few weeks.
AFC West | |
Kansas City Chiefs | 4-2 |
Los Angeles Chargers | 4-2 |
Denver Broncos | 2-4 |
Las Vegas Raiders | 1-4 |
This mega-division of quarterback talent has seen the Chiefs and Chargers take control of the division, both with a 4-2 record after six weeks of action. The Broncos are 2-4 with the Raiders 1-4 but with a game in hand on the other teams in their division after having their Bye Week last weekend. It always looked likely to be a battle between the Chiefs and Chargers for the AFC West divisional title and nothing in these first six weeks has dissuaded me from that fact.
AFC East | |
Buffalo Bills | 5-1 |
New York Jets | 4-2 |
Miami Dolphins | 3-3 |
New England Patriots | 3-3 |
The best team in football according to many pundits sit atop the AFC East with a 5-1 record and the Bills have also recorded huge wins over the likes of the Rams, Titans and Ravens this season. They do look the class act in the NFL at the moment. The Jets have surprised many to lie 4-2 for the season with the Dolphins 3-3 along with the Patriots in what is proving to be a surprisingly competitive AFC East.
AFC South | |
Tennessee Titans | 3-2 |
Indianapolis Colts | 3-2-1 |
Jacksonville Jaguars | 2-4 |
Houston Texans | 1-3-1 |
Only the Colts have not led the AFC South this season with the Texans and then Jaguars holding the lead before the Titans took over at the top a couple of weeks back. Tennessee does look the stronger of the four teams here, but the Jags are improving but it is also fair to say the Colts have been very disappointing in a division that many expected them to dominate.
