GPI’s player of the year 2022
In prime position of the coveted Global Poker Index rankings for 2022 is Stephen Song. Some people might argue that this makes him rise above all the other of 2022’s best poker players.
The United States player scored an impressive 3,543.72 pts on the Index. And this year certainly wasn’t just a blip. He’s been in third position of the GPI all-time list for several weeks too.
Although also an online player, he’s most well known for playing live. Of his almost $5 million in all-time earnings, just under a quarter of a mil comes from online play.
His best ever cash was something of an early Christmas gift. It happened in late December 2022, when he scored $712,650 at the WPT Prime Championship in Wynn Las Vegas.

The player who ended up taking the crown of the Player of the Year at the 2022 WSOP was Daniel Zack. He won two bracelets over the course of the WSOP, including the Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship and the Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship.
Main Event winner
And, of course a special shoutout has to also go out to Espen Jorstad, who stormed the Main Event to take down a stonking $10,000,000 prize. This is widely seen as the most prestigious game in all of poker, so to win it cements your name in history.
The Norwegian professional player, who lives in London, has got to feel proud of his performance. Ultimately ending in a heads up against Adrian Attenborough, he win with a full house.
